Her 45 plus years of expertise in the Human Services Field and her 20 years of focused research and facilitation of trainings and discussions on Race and Racism in the US of A provide the backdrop to her ability in creating an environment for both BIPOC and White People to take the deep dive into this uncomfortable and often “messy” conversation.
Milta is a 15-year contributor, Consultant and Core Trainer to the People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond, and she credits them with her foundational understanding of the Roots of Racism in the USofA. Milta’s 45 years of service and advocacy, administration, and her roles as Program Director and Principal Investigator in the Human Service field has taken her through the Substance Abuse Epidemic, the HIV Pandemic, and Presently bearing witness to the disparate outcomes of Covid-19 in Poor, BIPOCC and marginalized communities.
Through each of these, the outcome of intrenched Race Prejudice and Power differentials have been witnessed by the loss of life and the generational depletion of human capacity in Poor, Black, Indigenous and People of Color communities.
Milta is a crowned Priestess in the Lucumi / Santeria Tradition. She speaks to the process and practice as a “returning and recovering” of our ancestral rights and rituals as we lead a life of service in alignment with our commitment to Olodumare (God) prior to entering our embodied physical experience on Mother Earth.
